“When I first heard the Trio in a concert I was fascinated by their moving interpretation”
Günter Pichler,
Alban Berg Quartett
About the name "Delyria"
The name "Delyria" is an acronym consisting of the first names of its members: David Strongin (Violin), Uriah Tutter (Cello) and Elisha Kravitz (Piano).
The term "Delirium" can be used today in a broader sense to describe an abnormally heightened emotional state. On the other hand, "Delyria" also draws from the etymology of the word "Lyric".
For the Trio, both of these polarities exist in the music - certainly in chamber music - and can even coexist within one piece: the ordered and aesthetic along with dangerous and wild.
